Pando, a Utah aspen colony, is a single ancient organism. This massive organism spans 106 acres and weighs approximately 6,000 tonnes. Scientists estimate its root system is at least 16,000 years old. Grazing animals and altered natural patterns threaten new tree growth. Conservation efforts now focus on protecting young shoots for its survival.
