Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched the Industrial Intelligence Foundry, an artificial intelligence offering for engineering and manufacturing. TCS projected it could reduce new product introduction timelines by 25% and improve manufacturing productivity by 20–25%.
The offering includes configurable AI agents, workflows and governance capabilities for industries including aerospace, mobility, semiconductors, medical devices, industrial electronics, utilities and energy.
TCS said the Foundry provides industry-specific AI applications designed to integrate with existing workflows. It said the approach reduces the need for enterprises to build AI agents from scratch for specialised industrial tasks.
In September, Tech Mahindra partnered with Infinite Uptime to scale physical AI in manufacturing, combining industrial intelligence software with manufacturing and IT-OT transformation capabilities.
TCS said productivity gains from the foundry could exceed 40% as companies develop their data foundations and operating ecosystems. It did not identify customers using the offering or provide case studies supporting the projected gains.
Ramachandran S, Practice Leader for Engineering and Manufacturing at HFS Research, said industrial operations offered opportunities for AI adoption beyond office-based work.
“Most enterprise AI still lives on desktops, while there is untapped value on shop floors in industrial and physical AI,” he said.
Ramachandran added that HFS Research’s findings indicated industrial organisations planned to double their physical AI spending over the next two years. He said domain-specific AI could address industrial tasks where existing technologies fell short on cost or functionality.
The foundry covers product design, validation, documentation and new product introduction, alongside manufacturing operations, asset performance, quality management and compliance. TCS said its Human + AI Service Autonomy Model would support decision-making across engineering, manufacturing and field operations.
The system combines domain-specific AI applications with agentic AI and multi-agent workflow orchestration. TCS said its model-agnostic architecture supports different AI ecosystems and that the applications can learn continuously through use. The company did not expand on how this learning would work or how it would be measured.
Sreenivasa Chakravarti, Global Head and Vice President of Industrial Autonomy and Engineering at TCS, said coordinating AI agents across engineering, plant systems and asset operations would shape the next phase of industrial AI.
The launch adds to TCS’ AI business. Its annualised AI revenue run rate crossed $3.1 billion in the second quarter of FY27, accounting for more than 10% of total revenue.
